Day 19 - Mile 1009 (Zero Day)

Marfa, TX

It was a cold night, but we have the gear to stay warm.  My bladder woke at 7 AM, so I got out of the tent for a brief time, then returned and woke up at 9 AM.  It was actually getting pretty warm in the tent by then.  It must have been above 40 degrees.  After a wonderful shower, Jackie, Jim, Mary, Tim, and I walked the 1 mile into town to check it out.  Since I haven’t eaten yet, Tim and I headed to Marfa Burrito for an early lunch while the others continued to walk around.  After lunch we checked out the courthouse and the historic Hotel Paisano and then returned to the RV Park.  After relaxing, playing Rummikub, eating dinner (pasta with wonderful bread that Jackie and Jim prepared), we watched the movie Heat.  It is now 9 PM, so it is time to head to the tent.  Tonight the temperature is going down to 26 degrees, so another cold night.  The plan is to leave tomorrow at 9 AM when it will hopefully be 40 degrees.  We only have 54 miles to ride tomorrow, but it is supposed to be windy, so we are thinking it will be a hard day.  Let’s just hope not.
