Santorini (Day 3) & Fly to Sofia, Bulgaria

After two nights in Santorini (and 3 days - we arrived early the first day and left later in the afternoon after the 2nd night), we packed up and headed to the "big" town on the island, Fira, with our departure flight later in the afternoon.  Here's the two white wines, from Santorini, we bought from the wineries and drank the two evenings on our balcony.

We drove to Fira, seeing this neat fish sculpture installation on a restaurant.

Two ways to get to/from Fira's port at the base of the cliffs.  We walked the steps at Oia, but not these (or neither the horses or gondolas).

These people (and tourists) are really living life on the edge.

A Royal Carribean cruise ship, "hovering" while the tenders bring passengers to and fro.  There were some fairly stiff winds today.

Loukamades - yum.

How to drive a big tour bus through the tight streets of Fira - wow!
Picture
Big and fancy brewery just outside Fira - the beer was good, but not as great as the tiny brewery we visited the first day - go figure.

By the way, here's a view of typical island grape vineyards.  As the vines mature, they're coiled like a snake, with the annual grape bunches resting in the middle.  They do this as the winds would wreak havoc with normally done grape vineyards.

We arrive to Sofia - and follow the blue stripe, so easy...

...hop on the metro train and efficiently make our way to within minutes of our lodging at the center of Sofia.
