Day 119 (16 August) - Mile 1486.94 - 1498.70

Campsite at mile 1486.94 to Interstate Highway 5 (Staying in Mount Shasta)

I slept on and off all night which is typical when you are trying to sleep with a cold. Plus, it was the warmest night yet making me sleep outside of my sleeping bag. Plus, we saw a lot of bear poop on the trail not far back so I kept imagining a bear trying to rip into my bag. I think I did manage to sleep from 2-5:50 AM which isn't too bad. Luckily we only have 11.76 miles to hike until we hit I-5 and a town.

Knowing town is near, Share Bear and I quickly broke camp and ate breakfast and was ready to hike by 7:18 AM.

Ready to hike, but put that sign thing down first!
Mount Shasta seems to be following us on the trail:

Today's hike took us through a pine forest as we have been getting pretty used to.

We got to Interstate 5 at was surprised to see my old friend Lynda with Tim.  I haven't seen Lynda for about 6 years, but when we got together it didn't feel that long.  That was until I saw her daughter Mariah who is now incredibly a teenager.

We also met up with Indra and Space Cowboy both of who we met somewhere in the Sierra Mountains.  They already had some time in town and were both headed back on the trail.

Of course we found a brewery close by so we had to go for lunch.

I think Share Bear enjoyed her meal

Jodie sent me a package to help me celebrate making it to the half-way point on the PCT.

A package...for me?!?

Thanks Jodie
We had a great evening in Mount Shasta going to a speakeasy that had $5 pizza night.  I ordered almost every pie on the menu.  The bartender didn't believe that we wanted that many, but yes we did.

Here are some photos Share Bear took in town:

After pizza we walked through town, bought some ice cream at the local market, and returned to the room to eat it.  What a great start to a 1.5 days of from the trail.

Great to meet you today. Your photos are full of life. You have a really good shot of Mount Shasta but like the ones of Share Bear the best. Looking forward to more photos :-)

Hey Mighty Mouse! I want to thank you (and definitely Share Bear) for your kindness and generosity outside of Olallie Lake. I don't think I could have finished my section hike without your help... and encouragement! I look forward to more blog posts!!
