M9 Qualification
As you know, I failed to qualify last week on the M9.  At Friday morning physical training I was telling everyone in my unit that I see no way I will ever qualify on the weapons.  A Lieutenant Colonel that I work with approached me and told me that he has an M9 that I can borrow for the weekend to practice shooting, so of course I took him up on the offer.  A good friend of mine, Nick Merkle...who, by the way, went to Michigan Tech University with me 20 years ago and just happens to be stationed with me now, but that's a whole other story...agreed to take me to the shooting range to give me some pointers.  We went to the range and I shot off about 100 rounds on the M9 then shot off about 50 rounds on some rifle just to get more comfortable holding a gun.

Fast-forward to today, when I went back to M9 training to try to qualify again.  This time I felt a lot better than last week after shooting in class last week and shooting at the range with Nick.  Needless to say, I actually qualified!  I needed to hit the paper 35 out of 45 shots.  As seen in the picture, I hit the paper 42 out of 45 shots!!  Oh...by the way...last week I hit the paper 34 out of 45, so I improved from 75% hits to 93% hits.

Now I need to take what I learned on the M9 and use it on the M4 which I will be trying to qualify on again on Friday.  Wish me luck!
