M4 qualified...whoa!

I actually qualified on the M4 after freaking out for a week and thinking that there was no way I would ever be able to.  Even crazier than that, can you believe that I am actually pissed that I didn't qualify as an expert?!?  I hit 39 of the 50 shots in the silhouette and I needed 43 to get expert.  Why do I care about expert?  Because my competitiveness  makes me want to do well in something that I don't even care (or for that matter, want) to know how to do.  Bottom line, I went from a score of 21 of 50 shots (42%) to 39 of 50 shots (74%).

Anyway...although I am now qualified to carry and use the M9 and M4 I just hope that I won't have to actually use the skills that I have learned!

OMG! I can't believe this!!! Well.....instead of writing how much this sucks, I will be supportive and actively read your blog and keep you updated on my life, so that you have some reading material while you're there. I think you're actually going to enjoy this mission of yours. You always find a way to make the most of things.

Hey Gerri! I guess you're there by now. Be safe and DON'T use your M4...unless you need to, then by all means hit the "silhouette" dead center! You're a good shot and I'm impressed. I would have been all over the place! Had dinner with Adrienne and Melinda last Thursday at Javier's - we have a new one in Farmington. It was fun to see them. Adrienne is preparing to retire by the end of the year and will go to Korea with her oldest grand-daughter during a semester of college. Mel has a darling new baby boy, Nick, (now 3 kids). She brought him to dinner and he was SO good the entire 2 1/2 hours while we ate and chatted. I've bookmarked your blog and will check in regularly to see how you're doing. I'll also send the link to Mel and Adrienne so they can check up on you too.

OMG.......YOU..... GUNS??????? Unfreakinbelievable!!! I don't know if you saw, but I was forced into shooting in a pistol and rifle competition in Germany by Ulrich Sauter. I took 3rd place in the pistol competition . I am SO not surprised that you did well.....little miss competitor! You're amazing. Miss you.

You won't have to worry about hurricanes in Afghanistan, and you can play Words With Friends.

Your blog is a great idea and we'll write you!

For what my 2-cent opinion is worth: They SO don't deserve you!

I've witnessed you flying through the air as the rear tire of your Harley left the pavement and you immediately corrected course and recovered, seen you execute emergency evasive maneuvers in a nanosecond to save a dog’s life, and witnessed you careening out of control down a snowy mountainside and instantly regain control. I trust that should any shit-hit-the-fan that your feline-like reflexes and rapid response decision-making will save your ass. One thing I would like to know: in their infinite wisdom, why have they have made a decision to send a brilliant electrical engineer to do WHAT again? Exactly.

I'm not much of a praying man anymore, but this is one case in which I will make an exception. Should anything go down that takes you out of the game, please know that we all love you and could never possibly forget you (and say Hi to Growlie for me).
